CAA and Grandview lead the way in the respective agency and management company rankings for 2023’s The Black List, the annual compendium of the year’s most liked unproduced screenplays.
UTA and Echo Lake Entertainment repped this year’s top title, Travis Braun’s Bad Boy, about a rescue dog who suspects his loving new owner is a serial killer. It landed a leading 49 votes to top the list that was unveiled Monday.
More than 375 film executives participated in this year’s voting, each contributing up to 10 favorite feature film screenplays tied to 2023 but have not begun shooting. Scripts had to garner more than six votes to make the list.
CAA reps a leading 11 scripts this year to finish No. 1 among agencies for a third year in a row, while Grandview has nine. Both fittingly team on each’s highest-ranking script, Colin Liddle’s Head Games, which had 25 votes. Logline: A corporate spy poses as a personal chef to the disgraced founder of a neuroprosthetics firm in order to steal his seismic-shifting new invention from his secluded villa in Greece.
On the agency side, Verve was second overall with eight scripts on the list and UTA third with 6.5. Bellevue Productions (which finished ) and Writ Large tied for second among management companies with seven scripts apiece.
